We were appointed to design and deliver a bespoke private training facility within the underground car park of a commercial building in central Manchester, creating a high-performance, visually distinctive environment within a raw, urban shell.
A key feature of the scheme was the integration of a repurposed shipping container, used to house the changing rooms and assessment space, which adds a layered architectural element within the open floorplate.
Our design embraced the inherent character of the space. Rather than concealing the existing structure, we celebrated it - exposing concrete soffits, structural elements and ceiling-mounted services to create an authentic, industrial backdrop.
Our scope encompassed wall finishes, glazing, graphics, floor finishes, bespoke joinery, including a merch storage and display area, and audio-visual equipment.
Black steel frameworks, rubber flooring and matte finishes were balanced with softer interventions, including timber slatted wall panels and integrated planting, which introduced warmth and contrast against the otherwise industrial palette. Branded graphics and backlit visuals further enhanced identity, creating a cohesive and recognisable environment.
